If water is leaking from your equipment, turn off your pool pump or circuit breaker to stop the leak. Then call us and we will come out to diagnose the issue.
The spa check valve is probably deteriorated and needs to be replaced. This happens when the rubber seal around the valve flap wears down over time and the spa water flows backwards. Let us know and we can replace it.
Make sure your pool pump is on and the vacuum valve is open. If the vacuum still isn't moving, then check if there is something jammed in the vacuum like a leaf or twig and remove it. If that doesn't work, then it may be time to fix or repair your vacuum.
There could be a hole in your filter cartridge which means it needs to be replaced or it may be time to clean your filters.
This depends on your pump RPM. Your pool water should turnover 8-9 times a day. We recommend during the summer to leave your pump on during daylight hours typically from 8am-5pm at around 2,800 RPM. Keeping the water moving prevents algae growth and circulates the chlorine. In the winter, you can run the pump at night between 11pm-4am at around 2,200 RPM. Cold water plus less sunlight during the winter keeps the chlorine working longer and low temperatures also slows algae growth.
We recommend adding a little extra chlorine to your pool after big pool parties. Always keep a spare bag of shock (calcium hypochlorite) on hand. After a pool party, add 1-2 lbs to the pool and let the pump run for a few hours. This will help sanitize the pool after all those bodies have been in the water.
Las Vegas water is very hard and continues to build minerals, heavy metals, and the conditioner concentration builds up every year. We recommend replacing the water every 3 years or so or when the conditioner level exceeds 100ppm. Old water becomes hard to balance and prevents chlorine from working properly.
Most of the time a pool service will be about 20 mins or so. This includes skimming the surface, emptying the skimmer basket, emptying the pump basket, brushing the pool tile line, vacuuming the pool bottom, and balancing the chemicals. On a particularly windy week when lots of debris gets blown into the pool, this could take 30-45 mins but every once in a while your pool maintained perfect chemistry from the prior week, no debris blew into your pool and there was nothing in your pump or skimmer baskets. We call this a "miracle week" and your pool can be done in 5-10 mins during these weeks. It's rare, but it does happen.
There are certain chemical readings that are very important that we want to keep 100% balanced and then there are "nice-to-haves". Most pool stores will recommend ALL chemicals be balanced according to textbook parameters but it's important to understand that those parameters were developed in temperature-controlled lab scenarios with little UV sunlight. Las Vegas is no sterile lab environment especially during the summer with 110+ degree weather and strong UV rays. In the real world, especially during the summer, your pool water could be balanced today right after service and out of balance by tomorrow. Some chemical readings could also be off-textbook if for example, a pool owner chooses not to drain their pool as recommended and the total dissolved solids and/or conditioner levels continue to build which in turn affects other chemical effectiveness. These types of scenarios are common and are out of our hands. However, we will always do our best to balance your pool water with what we're given and with real-world experience.
